Why Pledge PINK?
We are Street Smarts! A collection of students here in Fort Valley, Ga attending Fort Valley State University and are members of the Psychology Club. As part of our club’s work, Street Smarts is dedicated to giving back and bettering the community.
Our goal is to reach beyond the gates and classroom walls to impact our neighbors and surrounding areas. This year as a club, we have chosen to adopt a cause to raise awareness and support as well as empower our fellow man with the knowledge to drive change in the lives others. We have chosen the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure foundation to aid during October which is widely recognized as Breast Cancer Awarness Month.
This will be our first year in this effort and we vow to make this event bigger and better each year to follow. We are looking to collect pledges throughout the month of October to be presented at the conclusion of the fundraiser.
We would like to personally invite you to become a supporter of Pledge PINK. Why Pledge PINK, you ask? Our hope is that you spread the word among your family and friends and inspire others to donate to our cause as we stand to uplift our community.
The Komen promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. We as a student assembly have taken on the task to work towards fulfilling that promise.
In our efforts to fully give our all to our adopted cause, the Fort Valley State University Psychology Club is seeking contributions/donations that might deem helpful to our cause. Eighty-five percent of the proceeds raised will go directly to Race for the Cure and their efforts.
